Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)

Join Our Team!  New Horizon Therapy is seeking a qualified Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant to assist in school-based therapy and clinical setting. Position is part time with the potential to grow into full time. SLPA must possess strong organizational skills, strong communication skills, reliable and enjoy working under the supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist.

Job Descriptions 

Looking for a full-time SLPA Monday (9-6) – Friday (8-5).

New Horizon Therapy is seeking a qualified pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant to provide support and services under direct  supervision of a licensed SLP, for children (birth to 21 years) and work to prevent, assess,  diagnose, and treat speech, language, and social communication.

SLPA’s daily responsibilities:

– ongoing speech sessions with clients on caseload
– data tracking to report on goals
– clear communication with parents to review session and to deliver home assignments
– maintaining SOAP notes for daily appointments

SLPA’s must be able to:

  • Provide direct treatment by following plans or protocols developed by the supervising SLP.
  • Document client performance and report performance to supervising SLP.
  • Have strong communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Collection of data with each session
  • Have completed an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Assistant training program.
  • Hold a current SLPA license.
  • Hold a current fingerprint clearance card or be in the process of obtaining one.
  • Ability to be flexible

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

Join Our Team!  | New Horizon Therapy is seeking a flexible, creative and goal-oriented Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). The COTA will work alongside the OT who will provide strong support to further help the COTA grow as a professional. We are team driven by helping each other grow as professionals. We strive to provide the best therapy for our clients.

Preferred candidates:

• Must enjoy working with kids
• Must be a graduate of an accredited occupational therapy assistant program
• Must be currently registered/licensed in Arizona by the Arizona Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
• Must have current CPR and First Aid training
• All preferred candidates must be able to implement and follow occupational therapy treatment plans, recommendations, goals, and objectives under the direction of the occupational therapist. Additionally all candidates must be able to implement and adhere to clinic policies and procedures. Preferred candidates must be able to utilize therapy software and document in an appropriate and timely manner. All candidates must be able to sit, stand, lift, push, pull, stop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during work hours. Pediatric experience is preferred.

W2 and 1099 available.

Full Time SLP

Join Our Team!   | New Horizon Therapy is looking for a full-time SLP to join our team. SLP will help provide support and services for children (birth to 21 years) and work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders, as well as supporting SLPAs. CFY welcome. SLP will also help provide support and services for our geriatric population (5-10% of caseload).

Job Responsibilities:

• Direct client care (half hour sessions typical). (25 min. Tx with 5 min for SOAP note and clean-up
• Completion of thorough Evaluations and Written reporting, parent education, and recommendation for ongoing services.
• Daily treatment notes and bi-annual progress reporting
• Support of SLPA’s
• Maintain records of supervision, both direct and indirect, for state records, and maintain 60 day supervision of SLPA’s clients per ASHA’s recommendation
• Presenting and promoting services to community, schools, and families as needed
• Organizing clinic and community resources
• Maintaining a safe environment (Returning materials to designated locations, light cleaning as needed for disinfection)
• Providing marketing ideas, assisting in advertising, and community education.

SLPs work with children on the following:

• Articulation
• Expressive and receptive language disorders
• Literacy skills (i.e., phonological awareness)
• Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS)
• Phonological Disorders
• Auditory Processing Disorders
• Feeding and Swallowing

Occupational Therapist

Speech Language Pathologist

Duties & Responsibilities:

Work with clients who experience voice disorders such as harsh voice or inappropriate pitch or who are unable to understand language. You would be responsible for completing administrative tasks including documenting billing information and keeping accurate records of initial evaluations, diagnoses, treatment progress and any treatment plan notes.

Additionally, the position requires:

Evaluating levels of swallowing, speech and language difficulty
Identifying treatment options
Creating and carrying out individualized treatment plans addressing specific functional needs
Teaching patients how to make sounds while improving their voices and maintaining fluency
Helping individuals improve sentence structure and vocabulary used in written and oral language
Working with adults and children in developing and strengthening muscles used to swallow
Counseling individuals and families on ways to cope with swallowing and communication disorders
Education:

A master’s degree from an accredited university in speech-language pathology is required. Additionally, a professional certification in the area of specialty and Arizona State licensing.
